Planning a trip can be a delight or a nightmare for those who have no idea even where to start. We create a spreadsheet that will help you plan and create an amazing script. A trip (well planned) and a script (well done) will help you save time and money. All you need, is not it?
A step by step how to create your script, working with the spreadsheet and who have already planned many trips tips. 😉
Choosing the destination
If you are like me, your list must have 400 destinations and would be easy to spend the whole year traveling, up to two, three, four years ...
But then, how do I choose one? I use two tactics to do so.
Choosing the destination
A journey of three principles.
- You have holidays in the period x. Based on this, you need to find right destination for this period.
right destination and clear objective
Starting from the idea that you see DREAMS in the fields of tulips in Holland, You can not mark your vacation to September. There is a period when the tulips bloom and unfortunately there is no other way out: you must visit the Netherlands from March to May.
And so will work when you have the right destination and clear purpose of the trip, you have to pick what is the exact time that your trip has to happen and plan for it.
Your vacation X the perfect destination
If you already have the time of your vacation is time to find the perfect destination. If you already have a few destinations in mind, search for how the climate for this period (rain, cold, heat, dry, high season, large events going on in town, etc ...). All these factors can disrupt a trip is the weather or the amounts that may rise.
If you are open to suggestions, do extensive research on the best destinations to visit at one time.
Example: Spring in Europe's best destinations
Put together a travel itinerary based on the promotion that dripped over the weekend is a good tactic to get you started traveling less. 😉
Fact that it is not always easy to get hold that promotion came, for you do well that you need more flexibility at work. Not everything is flowers!
Even if you are an extremely flexible person promotions will not fall in your lap, and availability you need to be proactive and fast.
Following many profiles related to trip on Facebook, set up for these pages appear first in a timeline. When you open the Facebook'm already inside of all promotions of the day. 😉
If you do not do it there runs do. Below show you how do you receive notifications by first the pages that interest you.
Now yes - riding the script
I do multiple searches without much filter. I begin to understand the region, you have to see what are the types of attractions so on ...
Pinterest: the tool can be a great resource for travel content. It works like a Google, but Pinterest is a search tool. So besides cutesy images Pinterest offers a button: read.
Click and enjoy! = D
There is too much content within Pinterest, then open a folder for your trip and go saving what pleases you not to miss anything.
Blogs: I read http://heritagepropertyconsulting.com/terms_and_conditions muitos blogs to set up my trip itinerary. I do searches in Portuguese-speaking blogs (worth Brazil and Portugal). Busco gringos sites and always try to do some research on blogs in the language that will travel.
I think it's a good way to have different views of the same fate. different cultures in open mind and start to look a little village como a great metropolis, full of opportunities.
If you do not speak the language, Google translator It is here to help you.
Instagram: briefcase on Instagram too! I'll save all of the tips that pop up in my timeline and use the search tool by # or by location. Instagram is not just a pretty face, a lot of inspiration and travel tips roll there.

Riding the spreadsheet
Download -Spreadsheet - Passport with pepper.
This is the most important part of planning your trip. Here's where we organize all the information that are scattered on the computer, cell phone and in your head.
My spreadsheet consists of 6 tabs, you can use all or adapt the best way for you. There is no rule where to start, I will explain each of the tabs and insert tips that I've learned over the years.
The spreadsheet contains affiliate link (Booking), To my link you help me keep the blog up to date with a great travel content.
There is no rule where to start.
General timetable Travel
I like to leave this as the first worksheet tab to get an overview of what will happen. beginning already including Travel Dates and days of the week.
It is very practical to have the days of the week at hand. When planning the itinerary day by day will come across the days when the stores are closed (mainly restaurants and museums) have at hand all the information helps prevent surprises.
home time, city of origin, destination and arrival time: are important pillars in its planning, especially if your trip involves train and many flights.
If you are a 100% drive away the columns of schedules can be deleted.
If it is a road trip, consider the column stops, it is very common in car trips and can help you get an overview of the script every day. Beyond what we can include mileage fields and quickly you can identify whether or not a tiring day.
Transportation can be a high cost of your trip. Nothing better than having all the cost control in hand. And all vouchers.
In this tab I like to drill each way, if it's a drive I can be aware of the mileage (yes again), and I can get an idea of toll values and also calculate the amount of gasoline (an average). Some destinations I can still calculate the car value.
To calculate values such as tolls and gasoline I use via Michelin (Valid for the United States and Europe). By inserting the origin, destination and some more information about the car the tool shows you the costs. Read too - How to plan a road trip.
To calculate the parking value often encounter sites that pass information about.
In the case of train, bus and plane is easy to check the values on the websites of companies. Enjoy already enter the value in the spreadsheet along with the website link will facilitate future reference.
It is important that you create separate columns for: amount paid, and the total amount payable. So you do not lose control of the total cost of travel and can control very well what it has paid and who has to pay yet.
After choosing very close and the hotel I already insert the information sheet as: city, check-in, check-out, number of daily, status, value and information.
The value we follow the same logic that the transport: amount to be paid, and paid full amount.
Many hotels charge an amount anticipated to hold the reservation and at check-out you pay for the rest. This control can be complicated and you can get lost, so the spreadsheet helps a lot with the amount paid and amount payable.
Tip: In the status I like to include up to that day I can cancel without cost. In the information field I add the link of my reservation, so centralizo all information.
Did you know that blog Passport with Pepper has partnered with Booking? Access Booking to make your reservation you pay nothing more for it and if genius client also does not lose your discount.
Leisure - Attractions
The types of travel can vary greatly, a call for more investment in attractions and other less. But it is almost always a little thing here, another thing there.
The church which costs € 3 in a village, will cost you € 10 in another city and can cost up to € 30 when it comes to a complete tour. That is, it costs nothing to account for these attractions, is not it?
As I'm going riding the daily script I go into the site of each of the attractions, and already included in the value sheet and the website link. I do this even to the attractions that I'm not sure if I will. At the time of the final decision is easier.
In a second step I dedicate one day just to close the tickets. Always I say in my posts about the importance of buying whatever is possible online. You only have advantage with this: avoid queues, sometimes you can schedule the time of the visit and get discount. 😉
Also important to keep an eye if there is no combos to various attractions of the city, it may be worth.
Once you've bought the tickets online, remember to change the values for the column: amount paid.
My last tab is for the script every day. A column for each day of travel and separated by time lines.
Ever notice, I'm not crazy and not narrow-minded with this part of the spreadsheet, it serves as guidance and organization. It helps me understand what it is within a day and organize myself with the schedules of the attractions already bought.
If it's a day I'll walk through the historic center of a city, I reserve all the morning and there I add the names of all the points that I should visit. Exaggerate (a little) always helps to have an extra fat in the script.
I love to play with the comments within the spreadsheet. If I booked x time for lunch, but still not sure what the restaurant, open a comment and set the link of my options, so have everything at hand (restaurant name, hours of operation and location).
My Maps, Google map tool is like my best friend in planning a trip.
Each of the attractions and sights that I find about a particular city I add on the map. An easy way to understand the geography of a city and see what is the best route. If you are a detail-oriented type, you can play with colors and icons for each type of attraction.
Another type of marking can be to choose a color for attractions and restaurants you must judge and another for those that function as a plan B.
When I went to Lisbon, I took two days of heavy rain. I went into a cafe any open my map and quickly transformed the cultural trip on a gastronomic journey.
Check here the result: A gastronomic journey through Lisbon.
Not least here's your last tab of the spreadsheet. Let's see all the expenses.
The spreadsheet should pull all fields of the previous tabs that contain values. The idea is that you quickly visualize what has been spent and what you still have to pay. Indico also create a field of planned spending on the trip.
In case you are planning your trip well in advance, you can dilute the spending and not freak out when you get the invoice of the card, after the trip.
If you are planning three months before, take a month to buy transport. Another month for tickets attractions. Another for hotels. If you follow this idea very likely that the journey his only expenses are: food, souvenirs and shopping.
A few extra expenses will arise.
So, what did they think of the way I organize my trips? Do you have any other tips? Share with us.
